JN
James North
Author, developer, photographer, and the occasional entrepreneur.
I write software for a living, books for fun, and take most of the photos that end up at the top of what I publish. Most days I'm somewhere between a terminal and a manuscript.
Writing
Published books, and a blog that's been running since before "content" was a verb.
Building
Symfony backends, self-hosted infrastructure, and a stubborn preference for the terminal over the GUI.
Photographing
Most of the photos across this site, including the ones above, are mine.
Founding
Co-founder of GetMyBook.Store, a secondhand bookstore not founded by a supervillain.
Books
A Guide to Desktop Linux in 2025
What most of your penguin friends won't tell you.
